Flower Beauty by Drew Barrymore Review

2 Feb

January of this year Drew Barrymore Launched Flower Beauty exclusively in sold in Walmart stores.   The Philosophy behind this beauty line was high end product for a low cost.  I had to see if these products lived up to this! If true, it would make all my dreams come true.

I finally got my hands on a few of her products a few days ago.  The website shows a vast array of products from skincare, foundations, primers, blushes and more.  I was disappointed when both the Walmart nears me had a VERY small selection of the line.  Mostly mascara, eyeliner, lip products and nail polish.  Nothing like the picture above.

I chose to purchase the eyeliner, mascara and a nail polish.  I wear eyeliner all the time.  I really feel it makes your eyes just pop!  But you can’t war eyeliner without mascara.   That’s like the fries without the ketchup.  You need it!!

I have to first admit I’m not a nail polish fanatic like most woman.  I rarely have time to sit and properly brush on nail polish and wait for it to dry.  So I wear it on special occasions.  Please excuse the ‘much needed manicure’ nails.   Anyways, the nail polish was nice.  Nothing quite spectacular about it that made it different or stand out.  I did have to apply 3 coats just to cover my nails.  The price is alright and it comes in a variety of colors.

Now this eyeliner is said to be smudge-proof and boy was it.  That was the best thing about this eyeliner.  It did not budge!  The tip of the pen was quite long and soft.  I usually like a harder pen or applicator, but it worked fine.  I had to apply it a few times to get it to the shade I like.  It comes on wet, so if you make any mistakes, fix them before it dries.  Overall I liked the eyeliner.  It came on pretty easily and I would purchase it again.

Grade: A-

Let’s get to this mascara! It was awful and nothing I would hoped for.  I like my mascara thick, but not Tammy Faye Baker thick!  I had to use about 5 coats to get to the look that I like.  The mascara is made with red seaweed and shiny polymers to add shine.  It was glossy on the eyelashes but that’s about it.  I wouldn’t recommend this mascara.  I’ll stick to my Voluminous by Loreal.

Grade: D

You should try the Flower lip butters. They are amazing. The only other Flower products I have tried so far were the other lipsticks and didnt care for the formula, although they are quite pigmented. I have 4 of the lip butters now and I love them all! Kat

I’m not sure I saw the lip butters at my location. I will check them out though! I wanted to try the lipstick as well but I’m very particular about my lip products. I think I will anyways. Thanks for the feedback!

I didnt care for the formula of the lipsticks. The butters are amazing. They are in an odd shaped packaging.

Have tried several products that I really like.

LOVE the pencil eye liner in Kakhi Shimmer. Like the eye shadow quads, the lip butters, and the lip gloss. Surprisingly, I drank a glass of iced tea after applying the gloss – a little got on the glass, but a lot of the gloss stayed on my lips! The gloss called Hibis-kiss is gorgeous.

The mascaras – hated the lengthening mascara in the dark purple tube. Love the 3-in-1 dial mascara – if you twist it all the way into a spiral, it really does curl your lashes. I was surprised.

Wow Lori you have tried a lot of the products! Are you one of the lucky ones that has them available or did you order them from Walmarts website?
I’m waiting on the eyeshadow palette. I really want to check those out!!
I think overall it will probably be a great line because Drew wouldn’t put out anything that wasn’t. Thanks for sharing!
